A newly constructed, 53,000-square-foot drug and alcohol treatment center serves, treats, and supports thousands in southeast Portland.

THE PROJECT:
Oregon nonprofit De Paul Treatment Centers is one of the state’s oldest and largest providers of drug and alcohol dependency treatment for adults and youth, serving over 30,000 people since its inception in 1974. The new treatment center is a three-acre site adjacent to Adventist Health Portland, a 300-bed hospital, which will offer collaborative opportunities and convenient access with public transit. The 53,000-square-foot center will include 70 adult treatment beds; 24 medical withdrawal management beds; a 450-person outpatient treatment clinic; group therapy spaces; and residential common areas such as fitness and therapy rooms, a commercial kitchen and group dining, counselor offices, and workspaces.
COMMUNITY IMPACTS:
- Create 85 full-time construction jobs.
- Create 22 full-time permanent jobs.
- All permanent positions will receive wages that exceed local living wage and employer-sponsored benefits, including health insurance and retirement savings plans.
- The new center will allow De Paul to serve an additional 2,600 patients annually, of which 60% are anticipated to be low-income and 33% are anticipated to be homeless.
