The Pacific Northwest’s largest rooftop solar PV system provides clean energy directly to the grid.
THE PROJECT:
ProLogis is a leading global provider of distribution facilities, with more than 475 million square feet of industrial space in markets all across North America, Europe and Asia. ProLogis leases industrial space to manufacturers, retailers, transportation companies, third-party logistics providers and other enterprises with large-scale distribution needs.
This 1.1 MW project has been installed on the rooftops of three ProLogis distribution warehouses in Northeast Portland, Oregon. The largest system is a 534 kW installation at a 246,000 SF food distribution facility, and the remaining 574 kW are installed on two additional rooftops located nearby.
The solar panels cover more than 328,000 square feet and began producing electricity for Portland General Electric customers in December of 2008. Upon completion, the installation was the largest in the Pacific Northwest.
United Fund Advisors structured and closed the transaction, utilizing the Federal Renewable Energy Investment Tax Credit as the primary tool to help finance the project.
